• xD

As far as I know, when you freeze something, it dies. I think goldfish can survive in very cold water though, so they would be fine even their pond freezes over in winter, but if you were to take one and freeze it solid in a block of ice I assume you wouldn't be able to revive it xD

I don't know if that goes for all fish though. Jellyfish are very creepy and I think they've probably got magic powers.

I don't like Jellyfish ;_;

 • hmm I didn't know you could do this do fish. hmm I have done this sorta to a fly before. Only difference is you drown it and then once it be drowned you pour salt over it and it comes back to life. I don't know exactly what happens but it was cool to watch.

 • No, it wouldn't come back to life. Freezing is one of the approved "humane" ways of euthanizing a fish. In my opinion, it is FAR from humane. It can take hours to actually kill the fish. If you need to euth. a fish, I suggest using a mixture of vodka and clove oil. The fish will be dead in a matter of seconds.

Just for anyone's random knowledge.

 • o.o
Don't freeze goldfish! x3
 • An important thing to note is that when you freeze something, ice crystals form (duh lol). The thing is, these ice crystals have a propensity to pierce the cell wall membranes of living organisms. It's a complete internal laceration - even if you were to thaw them out, re-oxygenate them, and give them a stimulating electrical shock, all of their cells are full of holes that aren't supposed to be there, and they lose all ability to control what comes in and out of them, and die. If you could revive the organism in questions which I believe is 1) impossible and 2) highly inadvisable. I can't even imagine that kind of pain.

While SOME species of frogs can survive being frozen over because of a natural glucose (form of sugar) that acts as an antifreeze and prevents crystallization, it is not the same and being frozen solid, because the ice crystals never form and their cells are not perforated.

 • I can't imagine being frozen to death - I mean, it must be like falling asleep, but every living organism has a drive to survive built into them, and being trapped in an environment that is rapidly becoming unlivable would be awful. I can't say how it is for a fish, it must be a question of the lsser of two evils, but still -shuffer-
