Hey All You FISH People- Look here!

So I have a 10 gallon tank setup and it's been up for like a month and I need to decide what to put in it!

I was thinking of just getting a male betta in it and be done with it. (I would be forcing myself not to spend more money on fish. xD) I saw a male at Petmart I really liked, but I wasn't sure how "good" their fish are there.

Or I could get some female bettas.

Guppies are a definite no. They don't live in my water.

Any ideas? xD
Please PM if I win.

 • I personally love zebra danios and White Cloud Mountain minnows. Hardiest fish around. They live even when all my other fish die. And I personally suggest not just getting one male, as once you get bored with him, thats it :P
You could try a female betta sorority, as long as you get over four.

Anyways, personal suggestion :
4 White clouds
3 Zebra Danios
A few Tetras, and an Ottocinclus, (otto(sp?))

And as for aquarium plants, if you want the more natural look (aka no plastic or rubber plants) I suggest Elodea and Java fern. Again, hardiest plants around.

I seem to kill anything in water, except my female bettas, which NEVER seem to die. And of course White clouds and Danios :)

Anyways, good luck with the tank. Hope all goes well .

 • I do have one zebra danio in there. I got 6 (they were actually "feeders") and all but one died. I might go back to the store and get more though. The ones I got were the last ones because the store was getting ready to move. So I think they were already stressed. But otherwise I agree, they live amazingly well. xD

I've thought about some goldfish. I've never really kept them before and I thought that would be something different. I might look into that. I really think I might do that. xD

Ahhh I don't know what to do for sure though. xD

...Actually I lied, I'm getting one of those Catfish in the picture above. XDDD;

I wouldn't suggest these if the tank in 10gallon they should be in a 30gal at the minimum b/c they're so big....I've been researchin b/c i want one XD

 • well :)

As much as goldfish and danios would be pretty together, goldfish are coldwater fish and danios are a tropical/warmwater species.

I'm not sure how long one would last with the other, I have never tried.
But perhaps you could put a white cloud in with a goldfish. White clouds can stand pretty cold temps.
Keep the temp. at around 70, and I am sure they would both be fine. Or test it with a couple and see how it goes. But really anything over a certain temp and the goldies drop like flies. Perhaps you could find a neutral temperature where danios and goldfish would live together. It would take some testing though.

 • Well I have 2 guppies and a betta in my 5, (well, I did, until one of the guppies dissapeared, like there one day, gone next, POOF!) So you could do a betta and maybe some cardinal tetras or zebras? I also like bleeding heart tetras.

 • Well I decided that I think I'm going to take the tank down. I really shouldn't be spending money on fish. >.<'

I don't know yet though. x3

 • I'm just going to throw this out there for anyone but, goldfish are pretty tough on the bio load. They produce so much waste a single goldfish should have at least 5 gallons to itself. As a general rule though, in tropical aquariums, 1 gallon of water should be given per one inch of fish.

Example: A typical male betta is 2.5 inches long. They would need 2.5 gallons or more of water.
 • Hmmm... if you are betta crazy like I am, breed the bettas, its a long process but if you have the patience its very rewarding.
 • nonono.
parrot fish.
nuff said.
