Thanks. I actually took a class at my local Hobby Lobby store. I only took course 1 and 2. I want to get some private lessons here soon though.

No it is certainly not as easy as it looks. It takes a lot of hard work and it kills your hands. "looks at poor hands"

I love the frosting but after I work with it for 5+ hours I can't stand the smell of it. It smells to me like dirty gym socks. But that only seems like it to me.
I get what you mean. The frosting was everywhere and after awhile it was very unappetizing.

And we had to use plastic bags that held the cuplets (right name for it right? xD) instead something with better material. They kept bursting. It was very frustrating.
That cake looks tasty! It also looks like it must have taken ages to decorate. Brilliant job though :P I love decorating cakes/cookies/sugary things too, but I'm no good at it xD
omg I am glad there are so many fellow cake decorators! I took a few classes wiv my mum starting when I was about eleven-ish, and we continued to take some after we moved to Canada (as there are always different techniques in different places,) and now lol, my mate, her boyfriend, my boyfriend, and I are all going to cake decorating classes together on weekends. ^^ tis a right laugh, especially when David and Mark start pratting about with the fondant!

I am not always a very neat person so when I decorate cakes the icing is all over my kitchen. Yesterday I managed to keep the mess cleaned up as I went somehow.

I don't care for the plastic bags. Now I will use the plastic decorating bags when I don't feel like cleaning my feather ones. I'm just strange like that. lol.

I finally ate a piece of it this morning and it was tasty! This one only took maybe 3 to 4 hours. If you add in baking and making the icing I have about 5. I wasn't very good at it either for the first few months. But I found out that most of the decorating just sorta became easy. I still need help with my flowers. Specially ones made with royal icing. But since I've wanted to do this since I was a little girl I decided to stick with it. At least I can make my family birthday cakes. I hope to find some more pictures of different cakes to show y'all.

That's really good. Horse came over to my house so we were baking and... yeah. It was an okay cake. Horse has the picture lol

I'm actually not very good at baking always. My boyfriend could probably be considered a better cook than I. Glad to hear the cake came out ok.

I am too. I never knew so many had an interest in the decorating world. Yes I would like to be able to go to New York for a month in the summer to their Wilton School For Decorating. But knowing my mom she will say no. I started decorating cakes when I was around 13/14. I'm going to be turning 16 this summer. So I've been messing around with this for getting close to 2 years now I think. Somewhere around 2 years. I'll have to go extract the correct number out of my mum. That is a funny image of your mates. I haven't worked with fondant yet. I want to though. Maybe I'll sign up for a class next month.

lol, fondant is a bit....difficult-ish. it's stubborn and tends to not like to lie flat when you need it to. Which is more or less why David and Mark like to fool about with it while Kaitlyn and I watch on in horror. (cos we have to supply our own ingredients lol, and fondant can get right expensive, especially in purples, reds, and blacks, which are the colours we usually use. lmao. So to be spending £9.15 on it and then watch them do that... lol. let's just say that Mark and David are often cooking for us, cleaning, designing, and buying us new boots, bustle skirts, and corsets XD.
Dx though, it'll just be Kaitlyn and I starting next weekend. The company that David and Mark are with won out the bidding on a dig in France wiv mass graves, and are leaving next week until about July : (
hehe next time I work on a proper cake (not ones at the classes lol) I shall take pictures ^^

Thats one of the main reasons my mom doesn't want me working with it yet. It is really expensive. I would probably be watching in horror also. My boyfriend tried to help me one day with a basket weave and some roses. I didn't think he could hurt anything since it was just a practice cake. I was holding my breath the entire time he had the icing. He did fairly well. Sorta. lol. Aww well I hope you and them the best of luck. And yes do take pictures and show them to me. I love seeing others work and getting crit on my own work.

I'm actually not very good at baking always. My boyfriend could probably be considered a better cook than I. Glad to hear the cake came out ok.

Cake!! 8D
That looks AMAZING.
How long did it take you? Sorry if you mentioned it, I haven't read all the comments yet.

Would you like to see our cake? XD
It's funny. lmao
We were just being silly though, so it's far from looking at great as yours.
Omg I love decorating cakes and cupcakes! I mostly do cupcakes since I have small kids that still take snacks to school. I made a really awesome easter cupcake for my youngest this year. Sadly they ate them all up before I realized I had not taken a pic yet. I have made a couple Barbie cakes. Those are really fun because you can get so creative with them.

Around 5 hours to completely make and decorate. Since its only an oval it doesn't take as long as some of the other cakes I decorate.

Oh yes please! I love looking at other cakes though no matter what they look like. lol they don't have to be "perfect" to be awesome!

Yay! someone else has gotten hooked on this too! Cupcakes are fun to decorate. I usually put clowns on mine or something fun for little ones. Aww thats sad Next time take a picture before anything else. I usually forget to take pictures till I'm about to cut the cake and then my mom asks me and I have to run and get the camera. I have never made a Barbie cake. Hmm I have made a bee cake, a motorcycle and I have some others too. The bike one though is on my moms cell. I am trying to get the pictures up but it isn't letting me for some reason.
