A Suggestion about Suggesting

edited April 2009 in Game Suggestions
I would highly suggest not to shoot down every suggestion because of coding -- If you go through all the suggestions nearly EVERY one is shot down because "it would be too much unnecessary coding." It's getting pretty irritating because if Nef wants to do it, she will do it whether or not the coding will be challenging and long.

All the good suggestions are brought down because of this. How is VP ever going to get better, and how is it going to stay interesting if nothing is ever added or changed?

Is this too much to ask? Or "would it take too much coding?"

 • Well, when someone suggests something that would require a lot of coding, many times it's brought up because there are many, many other suggestions that don't require a lot of coding that would benefit the game as well in their opinion.

Just because someone says it would take too much coding doesn't mean Nef doesn't look at it anyway. So I wouldn't worry about people saying it takes too much coding. It's player's opinions and Nef likes to hear all sides

 • How would the players know how much coding it takes? Why would it matter if the whole point of the game is to better it?

 • There are many players who know how to code. I personally am not one of them, however, I've moderated for other games and worked with the coders so I have some idea of how coding works and what something might take because of this. For these reasons, they may have an idea of how much coding something would take as well.

It would matter because perhaps they feel the benefit doesn't justify the work that would be involved when there is other "coding" that may not be as hard that would reap greater benefits. There are only a couple coders for this game, only one who does the "hard" coding and folks like to have opinions on how they feel she should use her time for improving the game. And their opinions do matter. If a majority think or feel that a suggestion wouldn't be worth it, she may decide to go with popular opinion.

As I said before, it's opinion, not rule when someone says that something would take too much coding, don't take it personally. If Nef disagrees with them, she may do it anyway.
