Drawings for critique! (Ok, fine, i'm showing off, xD)

edited February 2009 in Artist Alley
I am in a great art class at school, and the teacher is amazing, both in terms of his art and teaching ability. I don't rememmer if anyone remembers the little eye doodle I put up a month or two ago (I hope no one does, it was... horrible). But I've been working on it a lot, and now I can show off!

Drawings are pencil, based off of photos. It was just practice for eyes/nose/mouth, (i hadn't finished one mouth so I cropped it out). I was having fun, so I did the shading around one face. Critique is appreciated!

<img src="http://www.freewebs.com/racerfast/- New Folder/SDC10692-1.JPG" alt="http://www.freewebs.com/racerfast/- New Folder/SDC10692-1.JPG" class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://www.freewebs.com/racerfast/- New Folder/SDC10693-1.JPG" alt="http://www.freewebs.com/racerfast/- New Folder/SDC10693-1.JPG" class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://www.freewebs.com/racerfast/- New Folder/SDC10695-1.JPG" alt="http://www.freewebs.com/racerfast/- New Folder/SDC10695-1.JPG" class="bb-image" />

-Rosy

 • Wow very nice. Yeah my art teacher is really good too.

 • I think they are great! I guess I could critique it... um, the lips could be a tiny bit smaller on the first one. Good proportions otherwise though.

I like the right eyebrow on the last drawing. These are really neat and it just goes to show that the more you practice the better you get. I wish I could draw realistic like that. :D

 • Wow that is pretty good, better than I could ever do.

Besides that, I got some crit to give as well.

I've noticed your eyebrows are of different sizes, or not evenly done, but it isn't quite noticable. Your eyes on the faces are also different. Some have eyelashes, and bigger pupils/irises (sp). On the first drawing, the lines above the lips are at an angle they shouldn't be at. They are more slanted to the left (from what I see), while the woman is looking straight-forward.

Though that isn't very noticable. Besides those small flaws, I believe you have great potential. :wink:

 • Thank you all very much!

Eyebrows and eyelashes and I don't really get along... I've got to practice those.

Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't noticed, but I see what you mean now. We are working on our final portraits in class right now, so I'll have to make sure I take care of that.

Thanks!
-Rosy
