Wee! I'm getting a Cane Corso in RL !

I don't even think you realize how excited I am right now! Well at first I wanted a female to show and work, and breed once or twice, but I've decided to get a male neuter. (From one side of the scale to the next.) :P I still want to event him in weight-pulling, or maybe just teach him myself and do it for fun. I'm going to use him to practice conformation showing and learning how to stack dogs, gait, and free stack!

I would like to do personal protection but we'll have to see how his temperament and drive go over. I already have a Great Dane X and I think getting a male would spell less dominance fights, and the whole thing.. since Keilah is quite dominant with other females, and smaller males. The breeder? I'm pretty sure I can say on this site. I have officially decided that it will be About Time Cane Corso. While I'm not a big fan of their original females, they just imported a few b!tches from Rothorm (a big bloodline in Italy) that are really nice and have good hips. I'm hoping they will breed one of their new imports to Amon (I'll post pics). I would KILL to get a puppy out of Amon! Let's just say: - his Mom's great great grandpa is a full-brother to the dog that was used for the Standard. - has a lot of Dyrium blood, which is a line well-known all over the world by Corso lovers - triple bred on Bayron del Dyrium, which is like one in the top 5 Corsos in the world yada yada yada.

I talk too much when I'm excited. Plus this breeder's contract is very thorough and matches my preferences and my goals with the breed. I don't care if I have to pay $2.5k and travel to the bottom of the States!

Oh no.. must be just rare then..

This is a list of the dogs banned in England; Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 prohibits four types of dog: the Pit Bull Terrier the Japanese tosa the Dogo Argentino the Fila Brasileiro :| I've heard, and seen, some of those breeds in this country, even after the ban though.

Sucks... not about the Fila though. I haven't heard great things about that breed, except from the people that love them. They're apparently the most loyal dog in the world but couldn't give a rat's butt about other people. They literally hate other people, and will kill them if they try to hurt their favorite person, and CAN kill them. :shock:

Hmm. I havn't heard any bad things about the Fila.. I have heard bad things, whether or not they're true though, about the others, especially the Tosa. People have found ways around the ban though, by calling them 'mixes' between different breeds, which I suppose you could get round the ban with it.

Lol. I know. But they do, lol, someone could call a purebred pitbull a staffyxgodknowswhat and the police or whoever looks, cannot prove them otherwise! Just wondering if,when and what is the next breed to be banned..

Who knows. One breed on the verge of bannedment is the Presa Canario. They are AWESOME but it just so happens a couple with poor nerves and unstable temperaments killed some people.. and everyone's calling them the giant Pit Bull..

I love Presas, but like all dogs, if you breed them bad, they aren't gunna be.... good...? *sigh* The whole BSL thing is lame. As a future Corso owner I will make SURE my corsos will be socialized tons with kids and adults alike.

Ugh! How I hate Breed Specific Legislation! Any dog can bite, jeez. A badly raised Golden Retriever can be just as dangerous as an unstable Presa or a Pit Bull. Besides, I love Pit Bulls

Yeah^^! An aggressive toy poodle can rip a toddlers' throat out just the same as pitbulls can! But do they get all that crap? No. Same with every other 'aggressive' breed. Any big, powerful looking dog is hated, people think they should be murdered on sight.

Congrats on your corso pup! I'm glad you're going to neuter and practice with your first pup. I'm kind of doing the same with my girl. I am the proud owner of an American Pit Bull Terrier. She just turned four years old two days ago and I'm just now starting her in weight pull. I obviously won't be doing anything much with her because she has arthritis but I'm just getting my feet wet. I eventually want to get an ADBA conformation and weight pull dog soon. Good luck with your future pup! I hope you do wonders with the breed!!

I don't want to spam your thread but I'm really proud of my girl! She's worked really hard for me! She's got drive out of this world and she's still an active pup. I hate that she has to go through the pain of her disability. I know of several Rotties that are in weight pull. I haven't met many but they are out there! You'd be surprised what breeds pull. A lot of little dogs like Patterdales and Jack Russells are popular!
