Car Wrecks and Funerals

edited January 2009 in Vent
Three of my classmates were involved in a driving accident out in the country. The driver hit a huge pot hole in the country roads and flipped the car. All three of them survived, but when they were transported to the hospital by helicopter, one of them died.

My class is going haywire and I don't know whether to feel sorrow or to keep going on. How do you guys deal with deaths?

 • I think of the future and only the future until the future is there. I decide not to feel any emotions or look back until it's been about 6-24 months. Depends on who died.

 • I've just had my grandfather die, who was like my father...It was hard but as he was very sick before he died I knew it was going to happen, but when it did I could not believe it.

You can feel sorrow, greive and still move on, its apart of life. If you just stay in the greiving stage you will get no where and get sick yourself.

It depends on if you were close to your classmates. If you were then you have every right to grieve and even take a couple of days off school. If not, do not feel bad. I had a classmate back in high school who killed himself, everyone used to tease him, I wasn't close to him, but it still hit me hard. I greived but moved on.

You need to know if they were close or not, they are in a better place, where they feel no pain and are with loved ones. And they will be never forgotten...I have forgotten half of my school mates but never forget the one that died.

Also do not forget your school counsellor, they are there to help. Talk to them if you need someone to talk to.
