Dog Sitting

edited January 2009 in Vent
I assume lots of people do this.
Well, at the beginning of December (it was absolutely FREEZING here, man, after five minutes of being outside, your fingers were numb...) and I was asked to pet sit THREE dogs.

One is a ranbunctious (and not well-behaved) Boxer/Husky, who pulls on the leash x.x (it hurts when your fingers are numb).

Another is a nice black Labrador who is well-behaved (was having a neck problem at the time D=) and does well with walking =)

The third is a wittle baby girl (about a year). She's a Papillon/Chihuahua/Jack Russell? And she's semi well-behaved. Doesn't pull on a leash... (wouldn't feel anything if she did) but yappy.

SO, I pet sat them for a week. Seven days. I went in the morning to feed them, and in the evening. I took them a walk 5/7 days (two days were so cold I couldn't get my sister out to help me with all of them... yes, both me and my sister were babysitting them ;])

I played with them at the house for about fifteen minutes after their walks each day, and even on the cold days I went over and ran around with them in their backyard.

The owner-lady said she would pay us (she lives down the street). They were to be in Vancouver for 7 days, and they were, and I looked after the dogs. She didn't say how much she would pay us, and I would've done it for nothing with the spare time I had at the moment, but I was content with cash as well XD

Lol.

So. They've been back for quite a while now, right? It's past Christmas, it's now New Years Eve. No money, no nothing, no contact whatsoever.

My sister hangs out with the owner's daughter, so my mother asked her if her mom was going to pay us.

"She's just getting some money together," said the owner's daughter.
"Oh, okay," my mom said. That was fine.

Whatever.
I don't care about the money.
It's the fact that she lied. X.x I hate liars.
I would've done it for nothing if she'd asked me to, but that's not the point. She said she'd pay us :\

Grr.. liars. xD

Random vent. But I can't stand liars. Urgh. And I was going to buy Remi the bunny a new food dish with that money... oh well... (I got cash for Christmas...)

 • Maybe you should go and ask her, after all you worked hard to look after her dogs, and take your mum along with you for back up. Without being rude, but I am sure if it was the other way around it would be different. She would be on your door.

 • Don't I know that feeling.
My neighbor asked me to watch her dogs for two weeks, four. One that growls at us, one that's fine, one that loves us, and one that's blind and deaf. No problem. She offered to pay me, I said no.

Nine weeks later she comes back.
Two weeks later, she needs a sitter again. She lets me know last moment, literally. She called at 5 am telling us she was out of town. She said she'd pay me. I didn't care for money, but my mom though it was fair, so I was like whatever.

Anyway, she came back about a two months ago and said she'd bring up my money(it's about three houses down, a one minute walk) within the week. Uhh. Seven weeks later here.
Her kids slept over here once. Haven't seen them up here.

Like I said, I didn't care about the payment, but she's given us no contact, not even a phone call to say "Hey, how're you doing?"

I've basically given up on trusting people, no matter what the circumstance. >_<

 • The closest thing that's happened to me was babysitting.

Well, it wasn't really 'baby' sitting. One kid was 10, the other 15 (my age at the time).

The mother promised me $20, lunch, and a trip to the water park for me to watch her kids from 7am til 3pm.

I got there, 7am bright and early, -walked- there. The mother didn't leave til 10am. She said she'd be back at 3pm.

Well, the 15 year old just left the house, didn't say much except he was going to his friend's house. I wasn't about to chase after him. The 10 year old was a hyperactive attention-starved kid, who ran around the house threatening to commit suicide until I told him to sit down, shut up, and watch a movie.

Well, the mom got home.

At 9pm.

Gave me $5 and a ride home.

And get this- called me the next day to ask if I'd do it all over again. -_-

My dad got to her before I could and gave a resounding "Hell no!"
