iPod Question... [?!]

Can you put an iPod (to play on your computer), save it to a file, and somehow make it a file that will play on your iPod?

I've never tried it, but I honestly don't want to pay my allowance and Christmas money on a movie I already have just to have it formatted to fit with my iPod.

Anyone know?

  • if its saved on your computer in videos you should be able to sync it to your ipod.... but if not you can like buy it from itunes usually pretty cheap.. and put it on there..
  • Um, do you know, by any chance, HOW to add the movie to the iPod?
Don't you have to put the file into iTunes first and such?
  • you just put the movie in your computer and a little thing will pop up on your desktop and you drag and drop it itnto your I-Tunes page

No, but, I did place it on the desktop manually and dragged it into iTunes onto my iPod. I thought it was going well but then a message that said

Blah Blah Blah movie could not be added to Ludie's iPod because it is not the correct file type

Well isn't that dandy?

-crosses arms and huffs-
  • hmm... i have a pc.. so when your itunes are up you goto files and click import then find the movie and click open.. then it will put it into your itunes.. so then when yougo to sync your ipod, go to videos on the sync page... and click your moive.. and it will sync it to your ipod.
  • iPods only play .mp4 files, for video, love. .avi won't work, and neither will .wmp, etc. apple is a bit pompous that way. they don't do anything to recover stolen iPods, their phones are right rubbish, and their music players only play certain file types. all in the mad pursuit of money. that being said, I still wouldn't have any other.

  • you could always use Limewire to getsome songs. Its free to download and all you gotta do is import them.. but watch it.. it is FULL of viruses

I know it is; I think it's the reason we got an anti-virus system.
But even browsing the videos on there, lots of them don't work, or are named a certain file, but have nothing to do with that title xD

I'ts HARD!
yea i know. It is illegal but its not ever reported or anything. just for the record i DO buy the iTunes cards and buy the music... my friend on the other hand.....
  • Yeeah..
I didn't think the actual artists could get sued, though... it's not their fault limewire is sharing files!

Anyhow, I'll browse iTunes perhaps and stop trying to format my own DVDs... x.x

I'll try and find something cheap :/ That shall be a big challenge.

xD I meant how limewire stiffs them. they lose the money.. not get in trouble hehe. even iTunes is alright, because the artists are still getting paid. but seriously, if no one buys CDs, they can't travel, and if they can't travel, they can't do concerts, and if they can't do concerts, they can't record albums, and if they can't record albums, they are forgotten, and boom, you've got a band out of business.

  • no. its not that the bands get sued its that they dont get paid for their music so they cant afford to keep it up. If you think about it.. 99 cents might not be much but if 1 thousand people dont buy the music they can really do downhill fast.

You don't have to buy all the songs on iTunes. xD CDs work. :P

Anddd... You have to convert a video to the .mp4 file type (with a program). That's what I did with a couple of my movies I made. xD
    Please PM if I win.

Sounds -simple- enough (and whenever I say that, it always turns out to be haard)...

Which program? (Is it FREEly downloadable, or a disc?)
And... does the movie still work on DVD? Or no?
