I'm Getting a Bunny! :D

Yep, yep. It is true. Ludie is getting a BUNNY! I saw some at the pet store and my friend was complaining she wasn't allowed one, and I was thinking... I want a ferret! [Yes, I said ferret]. Then, I was explained to that ferrets need a lot more attention--but are smarter. So, I decided I wanted a bunny. Today I went and looked at prices... The bunny I want is only $19.99, very cute. The CAGE I want is $159.99... x.X I think I might have my dad make one for me, or buy a second-hand one... because I can't really afford that...

But, yeah. I'll add pictures when I get my bunnaaay! -happy dance- And, yes, I do know about bunnies. I've had some before. Thumper and Snowball xD

If I were you... as tempting as it is, do not buy your bunny from the pet store. I would look at your local shelter. I know there are millions of homeless bunnies (15 currently at our shelter) that are looking for homes. We have some bunnies there that have been there since July. Poor things.

My newest bunny I rescued from the shelter and she is an absolute sweetheart! She LOVES people and always wants to be with me.

Oh and is the bunny going to be inside or out? I ask because I know a nice way to build a rabbit cage but it's an indoor only cage. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.

I have 3 rabbits of my own (who are overly spoiled). hehe I also work a lot with the rabbits at the shelter. :P Oh and what sort of litter do you plan on using? What are you going to feed the bunny? Just curious. xD

Feeding for the bunny: Timothy hay pellets lots of vegtables Litter:Hmm... not sure... do you have any suggestions?? Where I live, there are only two shelters--both for only dogs and cats

Otherwise I would get one there...

Good! Mine have UNLIMITED hay! Also, slowly introduce it to veggies. And research the types to feed them. Iceberg lettuce is a big no no! I was going to suggested building an NIC condo.

They are wonderful! As for litter, I use wood pellets. I get it at a feed store. It works AMAZINGLY well. I never smell anything. It's really nice! You could check your local newspaper, or craigslist.

That's a fairly good size. Will the bunny get a lot of out time to run around? My bunnies have huge area. XD Domino and Dolla live together and share a pen that's about 8 ft by 8 ft. It's a nice cage, but, see, I don't have the room xD I do HAVE room, just not that much xD And my dad's already started, lol. LOTS OF TIME TORUN AROUND! I have lots of free time nowadays, so I thought I could handle a rabbit

I've got ten rabbits right now, all outdoor, but, everything you have sounds great for them. Just make sure it get's plenty of exersize and toys. Or at least things to do while in the cage. Boz- My rabbits could never live in that, they're WAY too big

Wow. xD I just want a normal sized rabbit. My mommy wants a dwarf, but I don't think they're big enough xD And I don't like their ears... I would get one just to make my mom happy, but they don't have any right now :? Do you reccomend bunny harnesses? :? They sounds kinda mean, but I'm not sure...!

xD I like meh nice big bunnies

As for harnesses, my friend who had a nice lop used one. If you train them proporly, they are great as for letting them get safe excersize, but if they aren't, and they don't fit right, they can really hurt (or woarse) themselves on them. All depends on if you get the good ones, or the cheaper ones, that don't stretch or anything. Hope that helps some

I have a French Lop, Marley. She's a big girl too. xD As for a harness, some rabbits are fine with them others freak out with them on (like my Domino). You have to slowly introduce them to it. I'd look it up. If you'd like some links I could find some.

I think we're picking up a bunny tomorrow. I'm either getting a nice, gray one [sort of skittish, but I'd like to break that habit myself] or a siamese-patterned one (american sable bunny?) and it's already pretty tranquil and down to earth... seems to have been handled a lot more... she/he's smaller than the gray one. I kinda want a bigger one, because I know they don't get bought as easy as the littler ones.

Do you have any idea how much the bunny weighs? Marley is a good 12 lbs at least. Domino is about 4 lbs Dolla is probably 2.5 to 3 (though, she's still gaining weight because of her neglect from her previous owner.) Oh what type of pellets do you plan to feed him/her?

Are you planning on spaying/neutering? (is it male or female? xD) I'm not trying to be like... rude or something I'm just trying to help you.

What I do for Andi is we have a nice hutch(x_x) For warmer weather, as we have an old house with a weird set up and the smell STAYS. And then in winter I have a Pack n Play for him, and he gets to freak out my cats in the afternoon. xD [/random] But I'm quite willing to help out. 8D

So far, we're keeping the dog AWAY from him. Max wants to eat him :? The pellets... urgh, I'm too lazy to go check and see what kind they are Dx He likes them, though. As soon as we put him in his cage he was happy. Not neutered, he's still young. We're debating on that... we're not sure how much it would cost, but we're not adding any new bunnies to this guy's life that we know of for a long time...

Yeah, I'll add a photo of the pellets later maybe. He weighs a WHOPPING 2.5 pounds

hehe that's cute! I have to warn you... some males that are not neutered.. um... spray pee. >_> It's nasty. The only way to stop it is neutering. You don't know for sure if he'll do it till he does. But I just thought I'd give you a warning. xD The only bunny that's spayed is Dolla. But I really want to spay my other two. Especially Marley. She's aggressive, mostly because she's not spayed. It's mainly territorial aggression. She grunts at like everything I do. She's hard to please. XD Oh and I just want to know what type of pellets. A photo doesn't matter really. xDD

My cousin had two males. One did it the other didn't. They had no females. xP I've always wanted to go into a petstore and ask employers there questions that I know the answers to, just to see if they really know. xDD
