General Discussion Questions:

What. Is. Normal? o.O
What makes a person different? O.o
Can a person be considered different in today's world?

I hear and see a lot of people using the term 'normal person' and I always wonder, "what does she/he consider 'normal'? What makes him/her normal? What makes what he/she thinks is normal, right?"

Those questions of course lead me to others like, "What's abnormal or different to that person? Does she/he consider herself/himself normal? Does she/he consider herself/himself different? Why? How can you stand out in a world when there are millions doing the same as you? Can you really be different in this world that we live in today? How?"

Normality today has changed so much from the normality of the previous decades.
People like to think of themselves as individuals. Well, isn't trying to be an individual in itself normal now? Meaning, you're just following a crowd of people trying to be different. XD
Doesn't that idea suck for people trying to be different? XD

I'm just wondering. Anyone have any views on this? o.O
Oh yeah, philosophy, come to me!
Maybe I've been in school too long... xD

This whole thought process started when I questioned individuality and how people group themselves with people like them in order to be individualistic.
That whole concept seemed to contradict itself (How can you be individuals if you're all doing the same thing?)

My conclusion to this!? Well! I'm thinking that it's human nature to want to be a part of a group. And, while people may want to display themselves as being different by the people they hang around with, they're actually subconsciously doing the opposite.

It's kinda cool to think about (or maybe I'm just being a nerd again XD). :3

Yes. I have too much time on my hands. XD

LOL

So how does one become...well...abnormal since abnormal's the norm. XP
By acting normal..? which could be considered abnormal which would make it normal...thus...resulting in you never obtaining your goal..right?

 • Oh my goodness this is confusing o_o
I'd better run before my brain blows up!
...
Okay, I agree with you, Koshi :D
People are sometimes quite cruel to others because of whether they consider them to be "normal" or not. It actually sickens me.
Like, when a person tries to act goofy or where something very decent and everyone else is opposite of that, they're cruel to this person because of the way they are. Because they don't like to follow the herd to make themselves look good; they want to be themselves; dress in things THEY like and act the way that makes THEM more comfortable.

Do I make any sense? xD
 • Nobody is really "normal" xD Everyone is unique in their own special way.

 • In a test I heard about, they had about 5 people in a room answer some simple questions. Four of the people were acting, one person had no idea what was going on. The four people purposefully gave the same wrong answer, and after a while the one person finally just went with the group, instead of giving his own answer.
Humans just want to fit in, into some sort of group.

I really like this topic, by the way, I think about things like this a lot, too xD.
 • Alliiee, I think it's normal that you think of these topics but abnormal that you're admitting to thinking of them. XD

Everyone's unique but alot of people try to hid it. lol. Darn peer pressure and it's evil, unique-squashing ways! XD I know! I know... peer pressure isn't the only thing causing people to suppress their uniqueness. X3

I hang around with people that constantly want to make their friends happy. It's nice but it can also get really annoying because you know a lot of times their views and thoughts aren't their own. Geeze I hate when people just agree with me to make me seem normal--and they do! XD

And yes Dusty, I understand exactly what you're saying. You're saying your minds as twisted as everyone else's! XD
