Laughlin, NV

edited August 2008 in General Discussion
zomg...

Okay, living in SoCal there's not much around except for smog, smog, and a bit more smog. There's also the fact that there's a ton of light pollution, therefore no stars at night.

Dont get me wrong, though. I love living down here. I mean, if you've never seen the Santa Monica pier at sunset you're definitely missing out. And if you've never surfed at Huntington Beach with your dogs bounding around in the surf ahead of you... There are some real nice places out here. Just no stars.

So anyways, this weekend my mom, brother, and about 3 of his -older- friends, and I headed out to Laughlin, Nevada in my gas guzzling SUV and two jet skis. We left around 8pm and its a 4-5hr drive from here to there. And if anyone's driven to Las Vegas or to Laughlin, they'll know that the scenery is a bit dull but still special.

I'm big on aethestics so when we headed out near midnight and saw the moon half hidden by these amazing gray-ish clouds and then surrounded by dozens of stars, I nearly fainted. O_O It was sooo purty.

THAT and then the easy flow of mountains & desert brush silhouetted against a beautiful gray backdrop... if only I had a camera.

So. :D Yea, thought I'd share it with y'all my -experience-.

Oh by the way, the scenery on the river was amazing too. Half a dozen hot guys speeding around on Jet Skis and in nothing but a pair of shorts and sunblock... hmm... that was some pretty good scenery too. >D

 • Well it definetly sounds gorgeous! && yet rather suckish how you can't see stars where you're at without traveling.

Atleast you have other scenic views to look at. However where I am, on the east coast, you just about see the stars every night. For example last night I was at the beach with friends [and there were baton twirlers w/ fire on the ends of them! o_0 i knoww, wierd!] but we saw a few shooting stars. It was pretty sweet.

But the weather here changes just about every hour, lol, so you never know if its going to be nice or a storm is rolling through.

.. hot guys on jet skiis? :] I'd much rather see that!
