another way to get a feeling for shape is to use non copyright pictures, and do the linework for those, maybe they lack a piece of the dog and you can fill that in as you sort of have an idea of how it would look, so then you dont have to do the whole dog
Well Tan, I don't recomend tracing any part of any piece of art.. because then it's not origional.<br>As long as you practice with shape you will improve. And tracing isnt really teaching anything.. except how to trace.<br>haha<br><br>and Thanks Kro!<br>And maybe eventually tiffer<br>;)
actualy it does, because it gives you a sence of how to use the tracing tool, so even if your lines are off, you know how to use the tracer to corect that (instead of depending on perfect lines to use it)<br><br>the way i learned is by using pictures where parts are cut off, that way i got no choise but work on resurecting said parts freehand with the linetool, but because i already have some lines it gives me a sence of how to shape it in angles and size<br><br>and i rescently did that and part of the resurected stuff was better then the non resurected<br><br>basicaly your training up your eye on size's and angles, and the better you get at estimating those, the easier it will be to create something of your own..everyone know how a dog look, its transfering it size and angle wise onto 'paper' that is though
i always learned through doing tracing or drawing after, it gives me a feel for how to move the hands to create the right angles and whatnot...its like when you learn to cook, to begin with you follow a rescepie, as you get more skilled and develop habits...you get a sence for how things work and conect the dots, and you tear loose from the rescepies
Well you can always practice angels by drawing them hundreds of times.<br>Tracings always the easy way out. Tracing isnt a type of drawing.. its a different concept in itself.<br><br>And if you trace something, then try to draw it freehand, and its too difficult.. your probibly just going to give up and trace it again.<br><br>Learning to draw without tracing doesnt develope the habbit.
drawing for hand and on computer is two very different things<br><br>if you draw for hand then you have a whole other control with a pencil in your hand then if you are to draw by making lines by draging a finger over a scrollpad on a laptop or using a mouse in which case its by using your whole hand, and in fact different type of mouse's work different due to causing different hand positions and having different reaction speeds etc...even the surface the mouse is placed on can make a difference at least to start with...its kind of like with car driving, if you are used to one and just got the lisence, then the next one over is going to be a nightmare and it almost feels like you have to start relearning everything, only after you had a few years experience and driven a number of different cars can you drive any one car like the next one over.<br><br>hence tracing pictures where part of the figure is missing gives you a practise on steadying your hand and/or finger better by not trying to do a whole piece at a time...but rather line 70-90 % and draw the remaining 10-30% which also gives you a sence for looking at proportions...its easier taking mouse steps then trying to do to much at once...trying to gape over too big a bite and failing is just as likely to make you give up and think that you can never create anything usefull, and make you loose patience in adjusting details <br><br>in the end it all depends on what type of personality you have, because different solutions works best for different persons (which is why the best teachers are the ones who actualy can manage to explain everything in 3 different ways to increase the chanse that everyone understand)
