How Zebras got Their Stripes: 4th Grade Story by Darky

When I was in 4th grade,
We had to write a story on how a certain animal got to the way it was.
We had to pick things out of a hat.
And I got "How Zebras got Their Stripes"

Here is my story:

A long time ago, in a little Indian village, there lived these beautiful white horses. The Indians loved these horses, they used them for everything, hunting, riding, playing, anything they could possibly use these horses for, they did, except for eating of course.
Well, one guy, Marone, was Guardian of the Horses. He was to watch the horses while they were feeding, to be sure none of them were hurt, injured, or stolen by nearby Indian tribes.
One day, while the horses were grazing in the feed, a cheetah came and scared them. They all went running crazy. They went right for a tar pit, near their grazing field.
Marone ran after the horses, and scared away the cheetah, with his powerful muscles. A little girl, Rayonna, saw the commotion and went running back to the village to get help for Marone and the horses.
She told the villagers of what had happened, and that Marone was trying to get the horses out of the tar pit. The villagers rushed to the tar pit.
The strong village men helped Marone pull the horses out of the tar pit, while the women washed the tar off the horses.
Some of the tar on the beautiful white horses, wouldn't come off. There were lines in every way possible, some were straight, some were zigzagged.
"These cannot be our horses," the chief shouted out
"Our horses used to be the envy of all Indian tribes, and now, we no longer have the beautiful white horses we were given," Marone cried.
"Wait!" Rayonna shouted
Everyone turned to stare at her
"What if we used these horses? No one has ever seen white horses with these dazzling white stripes," she said.
"But these are not fit to be horses anymore," Marone said to her.
"Then let's give them another name," she suggested.
"What shall we call them?" the chief shouted.
"Zebras. We will call them Zebras," Rayonna said in a very stern voice.
Everyone agreed. So, from then on, the Indian tribe, with their new beautiful zebras, lived together, in harmony.

Lmao.
I know Zebras are black with white stripes xD
But I was little! lmao
