Spayed..?

edited June 2008 in General Discussion
right now, i am at my grandparents house..and my aunts dog is here. She's really small-only 4 pounds and she is 11 months old. Well she just got back from being spayed. Well she's in a lot of pain [duh] and this is my first time being around a dog that just got back from being spayed or neutered.

She was moving around and started yelping-so my guess was that she was moving and hurt herself.

I thought it was best to leave her in her kennel-leave her alone and let her rest.

Is there anything else i should do to help her-or just let her do it all herself?

i just need tips and information about it.

  • Well, when my dog got spayed, she would just lay down in her little floofy dog bed. she looked like she had no intention of moving

But we basicly just let her rest

:)

Did they send her home with any pain pills?

Otherwise, I'd call the vet. Since none of us are professional with medical stuff, I think the best idea would be to call the vet if you think shes in that much pain.
  • no, she wasn't sent home with any pain pills.

okay, i will wait for my grandpa to get home, and then talk to him. i don't know the phone number or where she went.

  • we got pain pills with our dogs so they didn't even notice the pain. They were up and running around as soon as they got home!

  • When my dog got spayed she showed no pain at all, although she was on pain pills.

I say get some. They should of sent you home with some unless there is a medical reason the dog cant have any. And I dont see what that could be.

  • When Pocco and Sysco were neutered (I know, not the same as spaying, but) they were in pain (but we weren't given any pain pills to help with that). We were told to keep them calm and not let them move around too much for 3-5 days. Pocco wouldn't move for 2-3 days because he was in so much pain, poor thing. We had to carry him outside to pee, but he just laid there in the yard. Sysco was fine though.
    Bye.
