• They are all the same in breeding difficulty, but veiltails are the most readily available, and the cheapest. I suggest though that you try to breed with halfmooons

They are nicer looking and people want to buy them more. You will have more trouble selling veils.

 • Thank you! Do you breed them? And would crowntails work as well?
 • Yes I did, I have not had any spawns within the past ..while.. But I plan to breed again when I move.

Crowntails work aswell, though females are somewhat hard to come across. You may happen to stumble upon one in a fish store, but usually you have to order them online.

I can suggest a good site to order fish online if you like.

 • yes please! I've decided to stick with HM's but the females are so hard to come across, and if you find them they seem pretty expensive too. And I know you need at least four of the fish in case they won't breed, 2 males and 2 females. Ive found some beautiful males though... -blabbers on-
 • lol. Yeah, well I breeded my SDs and then I had over 50 fry.
Then sadness came because Cyclopses took over my tank and killed every single one. :(
I also had a VT/SD spawn once, and then the male ate all the eggs.

Spawning is verry difficult with bettas. Be prepared for a whole bunch of losses. But then when you do get it, it is like a huge achievement. And mostly it is a lot of fun. except when you watch your best female getting majorly beat up. Some males are very gentle, and those usually take the best care of their fry. The spawning process is amazing to watch. One of the best experiences I have ever had in fact... Probably cause it took so long to get there but eh..

I suggest getting the male that has built a bubble nest in his corner and is flaring like a madman at his comrades. And then go for the female that has breeding bars.

Do not over-condition. Trust me, it is totally not worth it. You get 4 million eggs (exxageration), sure. But usually most aren't fertilised, and sometimes the male cannot even wrap the female. Keep her plump but still somewhat skinny.

I will PM you some links. ;]
