Does anyone on here read anything BESIDES Twilight?

edited June 2008 in General Discussion
Because I see a lot about those books.
And I've read them [Actually, I read them before they were this huge deal] and I think they were okay, They were very Cliche.
And also, I always liked Jacob more than Edward by a long shot.

But I am a much bigger fan of Terry Pratchet/Scott Westerfeld/M.T. Anderson.

And the best Fantasy Author I've ever read is Holly Black.

Fo Realz.

  • I love scott westerfield

I read Uglies Pretties specails and extras

But my faveorite ever is peeps!

(I own all but pretties)

  • I've read them all. I read anything I can get my hands on.
I just see a lot of Edward around here. And I'm like... uhmmmm...
I mean, I deal with it at school too.
But Still. I read a lot. Like, a super freaking lot.
And I think they're good, but not OMG THE BEST BOOKS EVER.

And Scott Westerfeld FTW.
Peeps is awesome! I've read all his books, and I thinkkk I own them all too.
  • I like the Nancy Drew books. I've never been much of a mystery reader.. but they appeal to me. I like the new and old version. :]

And I'm sure you've read Harry Potter?

  • Yeah. Last book in my collection I hadn't read.
I always like the first books but hate seqeuls [in popular series, at least]

Haha. I read anything.
currently, A WWII book.
But Mostly Terry Pratchet Books.
They're like Harry Potter only sarcastic.

    Sleepingpuppy03.png
  • I obsess over the Halfblood Chronicles XD
You guys can go date Edward,I want my dragons and Halfbloods XD
  • See, I'm a picky reader. I latch onto something if I like it. But after the second or third read, it isn't good. It was just the thrill of a new book. I live to reread books.

Twilight series were okay. I could read them again, sure. But.. I not a fan of, like you said, the later books. They seemed to get more and more corny.

Harry Potter and me have a love-hate relationship. I don't believe Rowling did a great job at some parts in the book. Or tied it all together in the last book. So I hate the series, but love it. xD

I'm needing better books to read.. :o All I have now is Harry Potter. And I just reread them.

And you've read the Warriors series? I like those books. They're decent as well.

  • Yes, I agree. I did enjoy Twilight(and all the other books of that series), but I think it got blown way out of proportion.

I personally love most Stephen King books. Christine and It are my favorites.

I also really recommend any books by James Herriot. He was a large animal veterinarian a long time ago. They're pretty much a chronicle of his little career stories. The books are really engaging and I couldn't put them down once I started them.

  • When I was a teen I read the incarnations of immortality series by Pierce Anthony. This series is about the diffrent incarnations we have, like Mother Earth, Death- think skeleton with black cloak who comes and gets you when you die. These are all positions that are passed on to mortals who then become immortal. They are all very good books.

I just read The Memory Keeper's Daughter, and that was good. It's about a Dr. and his wife; it starts off in the 1960's and the wife gives birth to twins, and one of them has Down Syndrome. The Dr. tells his wife the baby with Downs died, but his nurse takes and raises the baby born with Down's.
