• Golden Compass - I saw the movie, the movie was pretty good. I haven't read the book series and I'm not allowed to because they're supposedly anti-religious or something. So if you'd be offended by that, I wouldn't read them (not trying to start a religious debate, just giving a warning). But the movie was good, so if the books are anything like it, they should be good too :D But you know how it goes with books and movies.
    Bye.
  • I love the Golden Compass and the movie. :D

There are 3 books in the Golden Compass series:
The Golden Compass
The Subtle Knife
The Amber Spyglass

I am on the Amber Spyglass. :)

They are good and I suggest you read them.
  • The movie was decent. But like Kite said, anti-religious. Even though my family didnt want me to, I decided to read the book. But I couldnt. It was very boring. I watched the movie and it was better but still nothing worth renting or buying.

  • Hijack real quick: *steals Dreams banner*

Sorry.

Real anti-religious, talks about killing a -religion-
Not a good book/movie.

  • Actually, not be contradictory, I really liked the movie.

It was definitely heavy, but it kept my attention and the acting was good.

And while I'm not super religious, I do go to church most Sundays, so I didn't just like it because I didn't care about the anti-religious aspect ^__^

But I haven't read the books, sorry. Maybe this is a special case, where you could see the movie, since it's quicker/easier, decide if you like the general storyline, then read the books?

  • well since most of you have said that the books are boring, I may just go ahead and watch the movie ^-^
and if I like the movie, then I'll probably try reading the books. :)

thanks! ^-^
