Ok so my cat has to stay in our laundry room because he pees and scratches stuff. He got out today and scratched the dining room chairs. So no my mom said I have to make a choice, find him a new home or let him outside all the time. He is five and has always been an inside cat. People drive realy fast on our street. I don't want to lose my baby! Sorry i had to tell someone. -cries-

  • I know it sounds cruel, but get him declawed. I dont believe in de-clawing animals, but if its the only way to keep him, and you really want to take good care of him and actually let him out of one room, then do so. If not, maybe you should find him a new home, but I am sure you love him a lot. But if he is not allowed out of one room, it could be all the pent up energy which causes him to scratch things.
  • Is he neutered? If not, that could explain the peeing. If so, have you tried to litterbox train him, or is he just a stubborn kitty?

He's probably bored out of his mind being locked in one room all the time. Is there at least a cat tree or scratching post in there for him? Or toys? Declawing could solve the scratching problem, but I imagine he'd still be bored (if he doesn't have much to keep him entertained in that room).

I know if I was a cat and I was kept in 1 room all the time, I'd try as hard as I could to get out, and once out..."Lock me in a room why don't you? I'll teach them..." I'd do the same thing he does XD No offense or anything.
    Bye.
  • Awww, please don't put him outside. Cats shouldn't live outside, there are too many dangerous things. Poison, dogs, CARS, outside is no place for a cat these days.

Is he neutered? If not, he really should be. Like Kite said, if he's not neutered that could be why he's spraying.

If it were me and my parents told me I had to stick him outside or re-home him, I'd re-home hime to an INSIDE home or find a way to stop his scratching/peeing.. Neutering will really help with the spraying. My male cat was intact for nearly 7 years before I got him. He was used to peeing/spraying on anything he wanted to but when he got neutered he totally stopped spraying.

There are also things called SoftPaws. They go over your cats nails and prevent him from tearing stuff up. It's way more humane than de-clawing and they look cool too, in my opinion. They're not very expensive either.

<a href="http://www.softpaws.com/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.softpaws.com/

Please don't put your kitty outside..

  • I have an outside cat. ^.^ He loves it, but we live on like an abandoned road, and he never gets in fights. HE IS NUETERED THOUGH. You really need to nueter any animal before putting him/her outside. And, my cat it de-clawed and lives outside. >.> So, yah...

  • You have a de-clawed cat that lives outside? :shock: Wow, that is absolutely horrible. How is he supposed to defend himself if a dog tries to attack him? He can't scratch him, he can't climb a tree. He can't catch food.

Hopefully he will find a new inside home. De-clawed cats should never be left outside.. How irresponsible.

  • he is neutered and he has a cat tree in there. I take him on walks too the marking part he did before we put him in there and thats the biggest problem the sctraching can be solved by those nail caps which we use.,
  • Has he always peed everywhere, or did he used to use a litter box? How old is he, and how old was he when you got him? Where did you get him from?

A good alternative for this...what we do;

We have our 5 indoor cats, and a doggydoor that goes out into a big fenced in outside cat playpen (there's fence for a roof as well so they can't get out). They absolutely love it, maybe you could build him an outside playpen?
    Bye.
