We just ordered my ferrets a <a href="http://www.ferret.com/item/ferret-nation-habitat-model-142/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">new cage</a>! Its a million times bigger than the one they have now, they'll love it!

:D:D My parents are also considering letting me put up a wanted ad for another snake (when I get paid for my report card grades at the end of the year). How does this sound for a wanted ad? I've never written one before; Wanted: Female Corn Snake, 1-2 years of age, "butter" or "lavender" color perferred. No "amel", "snow", or "anery". Must be fed f/t mice ONLY. Loving home, not new to snakes. Paying $___*. Please include a picture of the snake in email. *Depends how much I get paid. Since Moeru's girlfriend died, I wanna get him another

I know they don't bond, and they never even met each other except through glass, but...I can't help it XP I was all set and ready to get one in March, but the people told us last minute that she was being fed live mice, which is out of the question for many reasons (not moral; health/safety reasons)

Congrats. The ad sounds great. Depending on where you are though, you probably won't get too many repilies, as very few people find out the gender of their snakes. I know some real good breeders that ship anywhere in the U.S if you would like some info

I wish I could get a snake. And that ad sounds pretty good too ^_^ I am going to start working this summer so maybe I can get one >.< And that's sad about his girlfriend dying :[ Poor thing didn't even have a chance to get to a home did she?

Thanks ^^ I know, hardly anyone up here has snakes, and most of them don't know genders. No thanks on the shipping breeders though, for a couple reasons (in no perticular order) 1) There are breeders here. 2) I don't want a baby, and most breeders sell babies 'cause that's what most people want. Its also a good marketing tactic (Look at the cute LITTLE snake! *fails to mention how big it'll get*) so XP yeah. 3) I want to be able to hold and examine the animal before I buy it. Thanks though

I never buy any animals (except a leopard gecko, but they can't get dangerous)

I always fear they might get hurt being shipped

Doodle, didn't see your post, miss sneaky o.o They will, I'm so excited!

Mom doesn't know though 'cause she stopped taking her depression/anxiety pills, so she's acting strange, and if she knew we bought them a new cage, she'd freak. Good luck, they make awesome pets!

Might I recommend Corn Snakes? ;P Ball Pythons are nice too, but I like Corns more

I speak from experience, I own/have owned both

We had her here, but she ended up having a respitory infection when we got her (that we didn't know about) when she stopped eating I was immediatly in contact with her breeder (who is also a vet tech). She told us to try a few things, they didn't work, so she went so far as to take Songo back, give me a new snake (Mozart), and offer to give Songo back when she got better and let me still keep Mozart, all for no charge. Songo was improving, but she died without warning. Then Mozart had the same problem, but died much much quicker, before we could set up a date to have me bring him to her for treatment. She had a RI epidemic at her facility that she didn't know was spreading so quickly.

I like the ad, though not too sure how many responses you will get. Perhaps just post, Wanted Corn snake, loving home, with experience yadada Leave out the female and colour part, then when they contact you you can ask what gender and colour. They may not respond just because they don't know colour and gender. Then perhaps you could ask for a picture if they say they don't know. *shrugs*

I like to hold them to see temperament as well as overall body condition. Sometimes you can pick up on health issues through examining/feeling their body and how they move and react to certain things

That too

It'd suck to get all excited, open the box, and find a dead snake (or, in your case, gecko)

I'm picky and don't want replies from people who don't know what color/gender their snake is :P I like to save a step by specifying so I don't have to turn down a couple different people who don't have what I want (there are people who assume you'll take up their offer just because they responded, I've dealt with them before, not fun). I have no problem waiting for a long period of time for the right snake ^^ I'll add that I'd want a picture too, cause I didn't think of that, but its true :P

My favorite colors are 1) Sunglow (Moeru). 2) Lavender. 3) Snow. 4) Anery. and 5) Butter. I've owned anery and snow colored ones, I'd feel like I was replacing them if I got more of those colors

Sorry XD I am just a sneaky little Doodle. Tehe. And yeah, I am sorry about the poor little corns. I would hate to see two beautiful snakes die from something like that. And I also agree with the whole shipping isn't a good way to go. I know boxes can say fragile and the shipping people don't give a rat's butt. >.< Also weather is always an issue because it can be hot one day and freezing the next in different areas when they are shipped. Eh Shipping animals is just not a good way to go.

I agree, especially reptiles who are very sensitive to stress and depend on heat to survive. PJ also told me they aren't given water while they're shipped... And snakes are extremely sensitive to vibration, since they don't have ears, they feel sound instead of hearing it. Too much vibration = dead snake. All the engines and whatnot wouldn't do them any favors

Yeah = / That is just horrible to think about. I just think the safest thing to do rather then just seeing a picture on the computer and deciding it's pretty and wanting it, and getting it shipped. Is to actually get one in your area, that you can feel and see. It's much different then just getting a box at your door and opening it to find a malnutritioned snake or a dead one..

I know, that cage is gonna be as tall as I am! Its crazy, they'll love it! ^^ f/t = frozen/thawed. In other words, humanely pre-killed and frozen. Thawed out when the snake is ready to eat.
