Well, I was just wondering If there are any other families Who does something like this On Memorial Day My family, every year, We get tons of balloons (over 200) and they are red And on each balloon, We write P.O.W (Prisoners of War) and we release them Into the sky at Noon And we release, not because releasing balloons are fun But so that whoever gets the P.O.W balloon, Will be kind of forced To remember the soldiers who didn't make it back to their families, who were captured by the other side, who no one has been able to find They will be forced to remember that somewhere, a family is missing their soldier their father, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, etc And that for that brief second that the person is staring at the P.O.W balloon their thoughts will go out to those brave soldiers who will never again see this land :]

omg I know, i just wrote a post similar to this, ppl seem to forget what memorial day is all about, and its sad, it isn't just a day off, its a day to remember the people who fought/fight for us, who gave us freedom, who were killed, injured, taken as POW's and even the people who simply live with the memories, that is a fantastic thing to do

lol hey If I made Memorial Day banners so that when people went to your kennel they would remember what memorial day was all about would anybody be interested? they would be free of course and you could just msg me for the code and post it on your kennel, or the forum

Balloons are released :] 249 {one popped} Haha But, they looked awesome But the little baby/tots we had to like wrestle their balloons from them :] A lot of people cried. And some people attached little cards with names of a P.O.W soldier they knew and it was sad :[

That's a neat idea, DarknessLies. However, even though the thought is nice... I can't help but think of all the litter those balloons cause when they pop. =| Especially considering the large number of balloons that you're releasing. It's not just a couple. I would hate for an animal to get one caught in its throat. >_< And balloons aren't biodegradable like paper is unless they're latex. Maybe for now on you can check to make sure that you're only releasing latex balloons?

Perhaps you already are but I'm just saying... if you're not, maybe you can start?

I remember I did that when I was really young, but my family doesn't do anything for Memorial Day. I just beg my dad to drive by the cemetery when he's driving from the store. My family doesn't celebrate holidays that much... Christmas is like... Merry Christmas and it's over.

We knew all this already My grandma looked up all the information, Contacted enviroment people, They told us which balloons to buy, Where to buy them, And all that.
