Question for people with horses

edited April 2008 in General Discussion
Now that spring is here the flies are insane! They swarm my poor horse and I've tried a few different types of fly sprays but none of them work very well, most just last about half and hour then the flies are back, If you know of a good fly spray let me know thanks

  • We make our own spray. Let me go find the recipe for it. It works wonders. xD

  • I know what you mean either make you own like Zoe said or get Farnam Repel-Xp Concentrate you mix a little bit in with water and it works wonders. It can get a little expensive if you buy it from certain places but a pint lasts quite a while.
  • hmmm well my horse hates the spray bottles of flyspray so it doesnt realy work on her. but we use roll on and that works prety good.
  • We use some strong stuff with the cows let me see if i can find it online at farm and fleet or tractor supply

  • Urm, a fly mask works, you soak it in fly repelent, and attach it to the halter, but it can be worn w/o a halter, also

  • We always make our own at the sanctuary. A mixture of water, citronella and vinegar. It works wonders. Although Citronella is very hard to come by now.
