April Showers Bring May Flowers! ---I need advice!---

Well, we haven't had hardly any April Shower. But my little May flower Bella(who's gained about 10 pounds xDDD) has her 6th birthday soon! It's on May 5th. I'll be in Florida by that time, but there you go. ^_^

I also need some advice. Bella's not great with dogs, as you may know. But our pet sitter offered to keep Bella at her house. But she has an older dog. So, we set up a 'doggie meet n greet' thing for this Sunday. So, I just want it to end up decently. Any websites or advice or anything would be much appreciated.

  • If you're dog's not very good with other dogs, make sure you keep dogs on leash whenever the meet. No doggie fights, cause you can break 'em up!

Also, make sure if Bella's dominant, get other dogs that aren't dominant, if and if she's submissive, it's still a better idea not to bring super dominant dogs around.

  • Her dog is much older than Bella. I don't think he's that dominant. Bella's pretty subimissive with other dogs, but she changes a lot. She calmed down with our neighbor's dog the other night. But this dog is closer to Bella's size. I'm keeping her on the short leash when we take her.

Thanks for getting back to me!

  • Are you going to have them meet outside? I've read before that meeting outside is the best place ^.^ Maybe look up ways to have dogs meet or something.

Good Luck :D
All good things must come to an end. All endings will begin new good things.

  • My dog Bosley will usually go nuts if other dogs come around. But if I grab him and tell him to shush and have him on a leash, I can control him. Even on walks too, now he wants to bark but won't cause he knows I don't want him too xD

Pretty much, keep her on a leash, and BEFORE anything happens just give her a small but noticing jerk on her leash and at the same time make a noise, like "shht!" like the Dog Whisperer does xD, so she gets distracted.

I've done with with other dogs on a leash, we'll be walking by another dog and I'll shorten the leash and say "quiet" or "shht" and give a pull on the leash and keep walking keeping their attention on you more then the other dog. It seems to work xD
    Please PM if I win.
