Is that not illegal?
Nope. Its a wildlife auction. She has a permit to own them and everything is legal what she does. The bear cubs go to other people with permits to own them
*Sighs* I love bears. I really want one lol. Though I wouldn't do it, I prefer them in the wild
Great what you are doing!
Can't wait for pictures!
I think bears would be just like other animals you care for at birth. They are very cute, and have a less likely chance to attack you, but the risk is always there. I have two bottle baby goats, but some of the other goats i have bottle fed, and the calf i bottle fed are a little rough sometimes for their size
That is a awesome experience, but I also don’t support the auction of exotic animals that are not meant to be pets but to roam in the wild. Even if someone does have a permit. The only reason I could ever think of taking a animal into the care of someone is if they were unable to live in the wild at all. But I also wouldn’t let them reproduce in captivity, especially for a auction which means somebody buys them for money. What happens when the bears get to big and they end up not being the “cuteâ€
Again. They are auctioned at certain sales where you HAVE to have a permit to buy them. They are sold to zoos, and things like that.People who KNOW they wont always be cute and cuddly
Doodle has a point... I think it's cruel to raise and keep wild animals in captivity without a good reason, such as they are crippled or something like that. And they are being sold for money? So that somebody can breed more bear cubs? That's just plain wrong. Bears are not domestic animals, they should not be kept as pets.
So would you rather zoo's and other wildlife parks that have exotic animals go out and capture them from the wild? Or buy them from a captive breeder? Hmm not a hard question for me to answer.
Anyway it sounds very exciting. ;]

hehehe a zoo with purely wild animals that'd be fun xD

my county skipped groundhogs day because the groundhog's they had were to wild if that prooves any small point

and getting to care for them awhile sounds like fun
I think my uncle(He owns the mother and father)checks in on them as well. And think of it.If it was an endangered animal, and what they were breeding were healthy, good animals, and getting healthy babies, would you want them to go out in the wild and get killed because they dont know how to take care of themselves?I would rather they be sold to zoos, bred, and their offspring released into the wild by people who know what they are doing. He usaully sells them for about $600,but most of that goes into feeding the parents.
Sorry but a auction is a auction, people get wolves and tigers that have permits as well people. Does that mean they are always well looked after because I could write countless stories of animal abuse and other horror stories from things like that. I just wouldn’t encourage breeding for selling, cant someone just get a little dog or something and breed that if they want, they don’t need a bear. Why cant domestics satisfy the needs of people?
That sounds like a lot of fun! even if your against bears in captivity or whatever still would be a lot of fun!

(btw i think we should stop agrguing. bruiser was posting because she/he was excited about watching the bears, she/he was not looking for oppinions. hate to be rude but I just don't think it's fair to cut down people when thier posting with fun news)
Personally, I think it's great to breed animals in captivity, especially endangered animals. Although it's true, they're meant to be in the wild, they never knew the wild. They have it easy, being fed, and they are a lot more likely to survive than wild animals. They are not being treated badly, and it raises the animal head count. In endangered species, this is crucial.

I know in America, there is a species of condor that was dying out. If they hadn't have bred them in captivity, the species would have gone extinct. They released 60 or so of them back into the Grand Canyon(not where they were originally taken from, but it was thought that they would thrive better there) and they now have almost 300 over a course of 30 years or so.

Lets face it, most endangered species are dying out in the wild, and programs that breed these species, whether they release them into the wild or not, ultimately keep the species from going extinct. I'd rather have a lot of domestic bears in zoos than none at all.
Im still not sure where they get their fur from lol.Although Bruiser looks like a wolf.Anyone know what color he is?I cant figure it out lol
Aw, they're so beautiful

I'm actually not opposed to animals like that being kept in captivity, as long as they're happy and there's no cruelty involved

You're very lucky Bruiser. I live in Australia and we don't have bears here, although occasionally you see someone with a pet kangaroo xD
