Anyone Ride?

edited March 2008 in General Discussion
I'm wondering if anyone rides horses on here, or competes. I'm a A Circuit Reserve and Grand Champion right now, and I was wondering, if anyone else jumps high, or competes, and if so, how high do you jump? Pictures of my babies coming soon!

  • See my thread above you XD It's me and Calvin, who is now EXTREMELY gigantic in a bad sorta way XD I do ity bity jumps (2ft) cause I only ride the ancient ones because I don't have a horse. Calvin is like, 21 and Lucky is 25 and CP is... old. Two years ago I showed BJ and he was 26 then

  • Wow, you need a little younger! I ride 3 that are 4 years, 1 that is 7 years, and 1 that is 9 years. I jump 4' - 5', because I like a challenge xD

  • Well, I've ridden at my barn my whole life (well, 10 years) but they are all shorties their and I'm 5' 8" or 9" I can't remember XD. But the youngest I've ridden is... 8? I think. That pony was a devil. I've detirmined that I will have a horse after college if it's the last thing I do. That sounds kinda creepy :/

  • Well, Ponies have attitude. I ride 3 that are 12hh and 13hh, that I'm training right now, the others are over 15.3hh, and are better to ride. They are smoother, and are more sensitive.

  • I have a Morgan pony. He's the sweetest thing, and he's bomb proof. The only horse we can ride. And I had a Welsh pony and she was extremely friendly. I'm gonna haveta disagree with you on the whole 'ponies have attitude' business.

I ride, but not in any fancy competitions or groups or anything. But I won't be able to ride too much longer, cause mom's going on this 'Lets sell animals!' kick...so she's selling 2 of the horses (including the only one we can ride), 3 of our roosters, and possibly the guinea pigs and such. She says we're not getting anymore horses, either, and no one in the area lets people ride their horses. So I'm outta luck there.
    Bye.

Haha XD My Quarter Horse x Mustang...you can't even get a saddle blanket on him. Even my cousin who went to a Equestrian (sp?) college couldn't even get a saddle blanket on the guy XD He goes crazy.
    Bye.
  • i've been riding for almost 10 years and i might get to lease an arab (ill find out this spring break). i have been riding a quarab for the past year and i'll get to see how high he can really jump, i swear he thinks that every jump is twice the hight it really is. But ive jumped 3 feet, thats the highest i have been allowed

  • Eww.. sorry, I have grudges on Arabs... I don't like them. They're heads are a funny shape... no effence. Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, or Welsh are the ways to go. XD. Hmmm... Spring Break is over here...

  • We pay the guy that cuts his hooves to brush him. He's not afraid of taking a bite or a kick XD He's seen Halfbreed in pretty bad moods. I tried to pet Halfbreed yesterday and he tried to bite me. I'm not afraid of him...I'd never go in a fence with him, but I'll pet him. You just gotta be quick so he can't bite you.
    Bye.
I used to have an Arab... he was the best horse I've ever ridden (and I've ridden several!) and a real sweetheart... I was so upset when we had to sell him. (we were moving across the country and couldn't bring him)

  • I used to ride an Arab I actually learned how to ride on him. He sadly past away about 2 years ago. I used to have a Morgan gelding but we had to put him to sleep a little over a year ago due to colic. Then I was leasing a paint mare and she got sold out from under me so the 3 months I spent working with her and training her was kind of worthless to me. I am now looking for another horse to show and compete. Oh yeah I ride western not English so I do games like barrels and poles I was supposed to be in a rodeo with the Morgan but I never got the chance. So right now I am looking at mostly Appaloosas and Quarter horses there are other breeds in there but those are my main 2.
  • I have a 14 year old paint, I can jump 4'6 o.0
  • I ride :D
Been doing it for 5 years now going on six in a month :D
I ride ponies, and horses. I do not own my own yet, but I will be leasing in just a little while. I jump and I have done a bit of dressage, but jumping is my thing.

What is the longest you guys have gone without stirrups? (well of course using a saddle)

If I am going to go without stirrups, I always prefer bareback.
