GIMP Question. Please help me ^.^

All of the GIMP brushes come in black and white, with the design being dark while the background is black. Whenever I attempt to use a gradient to color the design, it only colors the background. How do I color the actualy design? I've wondered this for a while.

    "You drag it onto the selective design, make sure your layers are set. You have to drag it onto the design's layer, or you can use the design as the mask. You right click that layer and choose the 'use this mask as a layer' option. It'll seemingly disappear, but if you put the gradient onto that layer, it'll show up again."<br><br>Says my friend Henrie
