Puppy Mills

I'm sorry if anyone here runs one, or however you would say it, but I am completely against it. I just think it is harsh, no cruel how they basically force dogs to breed then almost right as the pups are born, off they go.

Responses? Anything against is welcome. In case you aren't too sure what these are, please read further at this website, and search around.

Puppy mills are disgusting. I stumbled across a website that showed..sickening pictures from puppy mills. I don't even wanna think about it any more than I already have. Its sick and wrong. No. Beyond sick and wrong.

I completely agree with you, it's just most people have no idea about them, and think when they buy dogs online or from stores that have puppies from the puppy mills, that they are healthy and are good just because of their looks. PEOPLE BE CAREFUL AND SEARCH INTO THIS BEFORE YOU BUY A SICK ANIMAL. Yes that sounds mean, "What, just leave them there to die?" BUT YOU CAN HELP BY DONATING AND SUCH. STOP THE PUPPY MILLS

It's really a sad thing, puppy mills. If you do try to buy the dogs to try and save them you're enabling the owner to take that money and buy more dogs to start it over. Usually they won't just give them away and you could call a rescue center but those aren't always about rescuing... Well the ones in my state don't do anything... It's a tricky situation.

Education. You guys want to help the dogs and save them from living in 3x5 wire cages and being bred to death from their first onset of hormones (Around 6 months for most breeds) Then strongly encourage your friends and family to spay/neuter pets that aren't shown or proven high quality through real legitimate competition. Discourage friends and family from buying a pet before they really research it, and then, to only buy from good breeders that show, test and compete with their dogs BEFORE they breed them! AKC papers don't mean the dog is of good quality and definately don't mean it should be bred, pretty colors don't mean it's a good dog, nice markings don't matter either, even a great pet may not be a good breeding dog. Teach people that having a litter or going through a heat cycle does NOT make a female dog a better pet, it shortens her lifespan and more than doubles her chances of cancer later in life even if she's spayed right after the litter. Be smart, help people understand, teach don't taunt or put down. You CAN make a difference! How do I know? I've been raising real sleddogs for more than 20 years and I work for a City Animal Control office, 22 years there. I've seen young people make a real difference. Volunteering for your local shelter is a great thing too!

Yes, they are beyond disturbing. Local animal shelters are most definatly the best way to go, along with reliable breeders. Probably the rest of the dogs I will ever own will come from shelters/rescues, after all...you know a dog's personality& can find the perfect match that way as well ^.^

I hate the puppy mills. THey are disgusting. And they baisically torch this poor animals. It isn't a very good poem but I wrote it last year in like 10 minutes: Once when I was a little pup I would romp around and play Until they got tired of me They sent me off to the public sale Where they thought I would be safe But instead I was crammed inside a case Now I am on my way to a place all dogs fear The Puppy Mills They breed us and breed us And they donâ€™t care If our little ones grow up with no hair They just want the money And nothing else For all they care we could be sick or ill They would still breed us like it was a game Just wanting to end up with the fame So listen close And lend an ear For what I have to say The place I live now is like Death row In which we all fear and dread Donâ€™t buy dogs from the Puppy Store Who you think are Purebred Instead get one that is rescued from fear Trust me they want to be away from here
