Work/computer problems.. Won't be on VP as much

So. Question - is working worth it? Or is it going to destroy me? No, you don't need to respond to the question. XD I just got hired to work at Food Lion (a grocery store).. A cashier. Good, right? Pros; - More cash. Yay! - Get out of the house (you'd have to know me to know why that's a good thing) - I can pay my own cell bill.. Including my horrible addiction to text messaging (Mare.. If you're reading this.. You know I'm addicted to text messaging 'cause of you. :P) Cons; - Weekday shifts are 4 to 10:15 PM - Weekend shifts unknown, but are likely 8 or 12 hr shifts - Between school, pet sitting, and work, I will have 1 hour every day to do homework or have free time - Less time would mean less time for hobbies, so what will I spend the money on? XD - Have to listen to a bunch of people tell me about their problems.. I mean, I can do that, but I get pretty tired of people thinking they have it bad when they probably don't - I have to be polite.. XD LMAO. I can do that, right? - I have to eat dinner there.. Frozen dinner, yeah, yum.. (Ew. -.-) - I can only have 1 30 minute break every 5 hours and/or when the manager says I can - I can't ever dye my hair an unnatural color while I work there, they'll fire me because I'd be supporting "rebellion punks" - If someone makes a mess on my lane, I have to clean it up -.- - In their rulebook.. If I even have a sore throat, I'm not supposed to work o.O I get sick extremely easily, I have a terrible immune system. Heck, I'm sick right now! XD No matter what days or how many hours I work a week, I won't be on VP as often. I don't even make myself that noticed on the forum anyway, but.. :P I'll try as hard as I can to be on frequently, but VP honestly isn't on my high priority list. :P No offense. XD Actually, I find that funny. Someone the other day asked me what I couldn't live without, it gave a large list, including "toilet paper" [don't ask], and I chose "the internet" XD

As for the computer problems, I'm luckily able to use Arthur's computer, otherwise I wouldn't be on at all. For some reason, my computer won't work. The hard drive is fried, according to Arthur, and it holds EVERYTHING I worked on - my files, pictures, my books.. Everything. I have pictures of Grace (my cat that was killed May 18, 2004) that I can't replace because I don't have them stored everywhere. There's a way I can get my stuff back, or some of it. They can't actually guarantee all of it being restored.. It costs $400. I'm probably going to do it, and hope, if anything can be restored, it's the pictures of Grace. Arthur says my computer should work other than that, I can't imagine how much it'll cost to fix anything else, if something else is broken. If I have to fix anything else, I'm just going to buy myself a brand new computer. (Hey, open to suggestions as to computer brands/types.. Or places to get a decently priced one). 'course.. Good thing about Arthur's computer is that it's fast because it doesn't have a bunch of programs on it. XD

I'll still try and train the dogs that I have promised to train. ^^ Staying up right now, even though I feel horrible and I'll be dead-tired when we go grocery shopping in the morning. 'kay. Excessively long post.. Now to get back to RR training. - Ana

You can give me your job - I'll split it 50/50 with you! XD Yea it seems like your going to be overwhelmed but I think it's worth it...even if you get zero free time now, you'll have a nice chunk of cash saved for whatever later (trust me, it's nice to not have to work while you're in college...eheh..) Just hope your manager is as laid back as mine was and it'll be a breeze.

Try to enjoy it and make the best of it. ^^

You can use a program called ghost to reclaim the data off your old hard drive. Not sure if it'll work if you can't get the computer to talk to it, but it normally works even if the drive has been formatted. Hope it works for you though... I used to work as a cashier, (at Safeway/Morrisons (in the UK)) just remember that other people are rude and if they don't try to continue a conversation you don't have to push it. And as long as u say please and thank you, you can pretty much chat about anything with the nice ones. I always used to prefer the express tills, because u could serve someone in about 10 seconds and therefore would only have to say Hi, that's (insert amount of money here) please,here's your change and receipt, thanks bye! Hope you enjoy it! As sad as it sounds, I actually used to enjoy my job most of the time. It was just the staff levels that were frustrating. When the queues seem neverending and there's only like 6 tills open....LOL

If I remember correctly, Ghost is used for backing up information? I think my dad has that, and I think that's what he used to back up all of our drives. But he backed up the drives over a year ago. If that is used to recover information, I'll try it. ^^ Thanks.

XP I hope I get trained on an expresslane. I don't want to deal with the larger loads, especially since FL is really low on baggers, and I'd probably mess up if I was trying to bag, ring up, etc. Who.. Start in 15 minutes. So nervous I feel like collapsing. XD
