Help Needed - Questions to Ask?

After my experience with Songo and Mozart, I'm going to be very cacious about buying another Corn Snake.

I've found a couple ads, but only replied to one (only cause I might be interested but they didn't have details in the ad).

I'm going to basically give them the 3rd degree XD I need help with which questions to ask about the snakes that I look at.

List:

Gender?
Color morph?
Age?
Length?
Weight?
Eating live or f/t?
Last feed date?
Handlable?
Any previous health problems? (Must provide vet reports as proof of treatment for any previous problems.)
Parents on site? If so, does the snake come with a birth cirtificate, and may I see and handle the parents? Were the parents health tested before breeding?
If not, where did the snake originally come from? If I contact this person, will they tell me that they did indeed breed the snake?

Does that seem like a good enough list, or...? Dad says its too pushy...
Bye.

  • I think it seems fine. It doesn't sound pushy. It's like asking questions about getting the perfect horse, it's what you look for, same with boarding them.
If you think up with more questions, I don't see any reason why you couldn't, if you are very leery/caucious, ask alot of questions.

I'm probably no help, or that didn't even make sense. But I tried xP

  • The more questions, the more responsible of a person you are, I think. They should appreciate that you're taking the time with all these questions to make sure you're getting what you want.

Doesnt seem to pushy. If I were the owner of them, I'd like to see people come in and ask these questions, shows that you know what you're talking about
All good things must come to an end. All endings will begin new good things.

I agree 100%.. With dogs (I know it's different but still) most good breeders expect you to ask them questions, and then they will ask you questions. If you don't ask them questions, they automatically turn you down 'cause it seems you're not really interested in the health, temperment, etc of the animal.

I think it would apply to all species and good breeders. They should be happy you are asking all those questions.

  • Sounds great. I am glad you are going into such deepth with the questioning. It is a necessity (I am pretty sure I spelt that wrong) to do searches like that if you want to find the perfect pet.
