Due to the fact that my area may be getting ice soon I may not have power for weeks to come. I'm not sure if the power will go out here, but I'm posting this in case. The central states are having Ice storms to the north east of my house. In fact some of the larger cities are already having problems. Some of you may or may not know, but this also happened to me last year, that time I was with out any heat for 3 days before my aunt drove to my house to get my mother and I. This is not a laughing matter, nor am I trying to get your sympathy. This is just to let people know what has happened if I disappear for a week or more. I can expect around an inch of ice, and right now the temp has dropped to 29, while it is misting. So hopefully this year won't kill me o.0

The tree looks really pretty, but I bet it's no fun actually being there! And we English ppl whinge about a little bit of snow! LOL

No fun at all, the temp will drop around 5 more to night, so all the rain from this week will freeze. and snow is nothing, it at least does not knock down power lines o.0

Yup, I live in Oklahoma, too. We got that stupid cold front/ice storm moving in

Do you live in the panhandle? They always seem to get the worst weather up there...I live in central Ok, thank god, so we usually don't get it too bad. Although last year during winter I went outside to see a large pickup truck sliding sideways down the busy street mext to my house...scared my half to death. *shudders*

If it happens every year I'm suprised that they haven't invested in putting the power lines underground.....or found another solution....

really??! thats awesome! No evy lives near McAlster, but in the middle of now were o.0 And you can see the photos of meh horse pond, froze all the way down. my 91 acre lake was froze all the way across too! We drove a tractor over it so we didn't have to try driving over the dam, which is bad in the best of weather o.0

They've gotten most of the main lines on metal poles now,a nd that should help, but some of them are really old wood, those are what I worry about the most o.0

we live in Norman. Actually, a really nasty ice storm hit us about 20 min ago...I'm hoping we won't have to go to school tomorrow. Lol

I wish I had a lake. I've always wanted to live in the country. Unfortunately, my mom's a suburb type of person. Do you know where Lexington is? It's this little rural town out in the middle of nowhere XD That's where I'm gonna move when I move out.

Two weeks!? :shock: I wish that would hapen here. But in Ohio we just get no school for freezing wind chills and when the snow is bad and causes traffic. That maybe makes 4 snow days a year. And Evlon stay warm!

It sounds very cold out there. I hope you dont get knocked out for too long.

Evlon ish still fine! The storms have been missing my area by just enough. There was a thin bit of ice over every thing today, but nothing major, and tis melting now. Lucky I don't have OGE power o.0 they seem to be having some problems. Wed looks like it might be the worst of the days. (I'm at school at the moment, not sure about the evening, most likely will not be on then)

My goodness bejezus! We had a horrid storm the past couple days. It knocked out our power indefinitely and we had to come stay with my grandparents. Pretty much everyone in Norman and Moore and a few other neighboring cities are without power

Yeah, Oklahoma doesn't get really bad snow, we seem to get really bad ice, whenever the snow melts before it hits the ground. Every few seconds you can hear cracking from trees breaking off due to the heavy ice buildup. The trees have downed a bunch of power lines and put holes in many roofs. It is kinda hard to navigate through small streets as well, as there are so many down trees. It's really bad. I'll try to get pictures up whenever I have access to a my camera. My grandparents have a bunch of trees in their backyard, and they're too scared to let their dog out, they're afraid she'll get hit by a falling tree limb.

Ahh I moved from SandSprings, Oklahoma to Wichita, Kansas last year. And I just got back from a funeral in Bartlesville, Ok yesterday and it was outside! It was just ice everywhere from there to here. 0.0

Aha! I've actually heard of Sand Springs. I feel accomplished ^.^ I know, it's pretty bad. It's so depressing. The last few days I felt so useless, all I could do was read and play board games with myself, and the only things I could eat were granola bars, peanut butter, and fruit -.- My friend relieved her boredom by breaking the icicles off everything on her property, lol.

Our school is out in Kansas right now so I am sure Oklahoma's school is to! = / I use to dip carrots in snow and eat em... hehe

Psshh, we hardly ever get snow. And when we do, it melts and becomes ice. Ice is pretty, but it makes things difficult. Oh, haha, I feel a story coming on...:D Ok, so, this morning we had to leave my house to get to my grandma's. We'd never been without power for so long, so we didn't know how to open the garage door (it's powered by electricity, with no handles) So, my mom had heard somewhere that there was a green button that you should push. We saw a green button on the garage box...which was above the car. We couldn't reach the box, so we tried a stepladder. There wasn't enough room to fit the ladder close to where we needed it, so we got out a hotdog skewer(the type you use around a campfire to cook hotdogs or marshmallows) and attempted to poke the tiny green button whilst leaning over our car on a stepladder. O.o We even moved the car just a teensy bit backwards so as to create more room for the stepladder, but my mom insisted on fumigating the garage so we wouldn't die first. Once we did this, we could almost reach the button but we couldn't press it. Finally, after a long struggle(about 45 min) I saw a cord hanging down. We pulled it, and voila. It worked. Lol.

I've gotten lucky, nothing bad has hit around McAlster so far ^^ Meh aunt lives in moore, but I've been able to reach her vida cell and she's fine, she owns a nice big old fashon fire place and loads of wood ^^ o.0 yeah most of meh property is forest and last time it sounded like a shooting range o.0 Lucky the bigest tree in meh yard is the one that you can see in the photos.hope you get your power back soon cobalt. And no, school is still running in the area that got missed. Oh and it was 68 degrees this morning, and raining a lot. Tomarrow is going to be arounf 32 so I might get ice after all. I'm hopeing that it does not drop below 33 so it doesn't all freeze or meh drive way will be good enough to skate on o.0
