What Is My Dog? (WeisseEdelweiss)

Revealing what dog breeds make up an animal would be better organized and the one ready to purchase knows exactly the breeds of dog that make up the animal. I HATE having to click back 7 generations of Hybrids to figure out what my animal is in order to draw an accurate image (among other things).

IDEAS:

1.All dogs that are not pure bred should have the name of both dog breeds of mother and father.
Ex: Dalmation/Siberian Husky (Mutt) (Neutered) Male or Female

2. All wolf species, when bred to a different species or breed of dog should be Wolf Hybrids. I've noticed that on all of them except Arctic Wolf, other non Arctic Wolf Species make mutts.
That's not accurate.

3. Different species of canine, when bred to other species, should also be labelled as hybrid. A hyena/Siberian Husky does NOT make a mutt. It makes a hybrid.
Again not accurate.

  • Also, idea from Kite_Katsumi: to let the neutered dogs stay male or female because after they're neutered all references to the animal are he's even if the animal was a female.
Yikes! XD Someone went to switzerland and had a change.
  • Yes!! the wolf thing has bothered me a lot, after my first wolf mutts happened o.0 And the ferril breeds should make hybrids because they are not Cainis Domesticus (aka common dog) and tech speaking if an animal is bred out side of the genus then it becomes a hybrid.

Due to lack of interest tomorrow is canceled. Let the clocks be reset and the pendulums held.
  • yes that way i would be easy because sometimes i would like to have a mutt in my kennel and i would like to see what breed it is
    I love all animals
  • I agree :)

It would be cool if these things could actually happen...*wink wink*

  • I hope so. It would add a great deal of organization to the game.
  • A way I know what neutered dogs used to be in gender is to look at the About My Dog Column on your dog's page, it has learned like (their gender) seems to be really clean now. That's how I know their gender. Hope this helps.

Last I remember it's not correct. All neutered animals recieved the "he" title.
  • *tosses in her own agreement*

Sorry WeisseEdelweiss, I am for your suggestion.

  • the hybrid thing makes me mad.I bred a red fox to a dalmation, and got a mutt(i was a beginner at the time)it should have been Fox Hybrid or something like that
  • I was dissapointed. Yes, it is inaccurate, however.
  • I agree completely. I get gifties and I would like to know how to refer to them.

Both are excellent suggestions. It would be quite funny to give a neutered dog a gender-specific name, only to find that it was not a girl, but a boy [or vise versa].

  • Imagine in Real life if you had a female pup and named it Lacy then got it neutered, and everyone suddenyl started calling it a boy...?
It is somewhat silly. I think it should at least have neutered (female) or neutered (male).

Good suggestion WeisseEdelweiss.

As for the wolf hybrids, It has never bothered me considering they are somewhat like mutts in my mind, and I do not breed them.
    topleaf-1.pngleafyegg.gif<-Lenny *hugs lolo*
  • Well, they may be mutts in your mind, but they're not.
They are hybrids, a cross of species, not breeds thus they are not, on an intellectual or biological level mutts.

Yet, I'm very pleased that everyone likes my suggestion, however I severely doubt this will be done despite its promise of organization for everyone.

Also, it'd be a hell of a work load for someone.
  • yes but it would be nice for making teams
  • I like the idea nad for the organization they could just make it from this point on kinda thing like they did with showing dogs under 6 months

  • I would like to see this happen.
