See thats whats confusing me 0.o? Normally i would say oh i have an 'itch i need to scratch it'..
but everyone i know seems to say 'oh i have an itch i need to itch it' o.o
An itch is a noun and scratch is a verb. You scratch an itch. XD
"My leg has an itch, I will scratch it now."

Itchy is an adjective, it's a feeling- the process of having an itch.
"My skin is itchy, I must scratch it." You're scratching the itchy skin (itchy is describing the skin)

English class is a grand thing, no? ^_^

Think of it as: Itch = tickle
You wouldn't tickle a tickle, so you wouldn't itch an itch. XD
haha, this reminds of a really random song from summercamp.

Calemine Lotion
Calemine,calemine, calemine lotion
(echo)
No, no more calemine lotion
(echo)
Itchy itchy, scratchy scratchy, oooh I got on on my backy
(echo)
Eek! Went the bug when I hit him with the bug spray
(echo)
Pssssssssssssssssss
(echo)

We had a lot of weird random songs like this. 8)
