Is it ok...

(since no one responded to my last post)

Ok, I have my lines of Chart polskis, and the way the thing works out, you get to breed up to the 6th gen, before the lines cross. Is it ok to cross the lines? They are 5 generations apart, so I dont really see how it would manage to mess up the lines, but I need your opinions.

Please vote yes, or no. Plus, post comments to it if you're against it

 • I'm not sure I understand what you are talking about. But then again, I'm a newb to lineage. Cairns are my first ones I've actually worked on.

But I did

8 imports
bred them
4 pups
bred them
2 pups
bred them
1 pup
and then you breed to your other line or your done or whatever

 • It goes

10 imports, you take one male, and one female out of each pair, creating 10 2nd gens. You repeat this switching the lines around in this confusing way...

then, once you hit 6th gen, thats the last generation you can have before the lines end up crossing. The lines that are crossed however, are 5 generations apart, so they wouldnt even show up on a regular pedigree. (though, these arent real dogs anyway) so, i dont know if it would be ok to keep on breeding them after that.

 • I guess it depends on the person breeding the dogs. :/
I don't do it. If I don't get what I accomplish with the lines I have built up. I import more dogs and so on creating more and more lines. I think I have about 6 lines goings on the corgis at the moment. :|
My opinion is its still cross bred or inbred however you want to look at it. But I won't dog people for doing it. I just think its a matter of choice. :)

 • Yeah. I mean, they are far apart, and its a pain to go back and do it all over again

But, I still have one more generation left to create... so... I may get my 9x4s. And after that, i dont much mind if they are crossed, because well.. I will just be improoving the speed and all. I can at least say I got 9x4s (the highest due to hyper) with clean lines at that point.

I dunno, im still mixed on this :?

 • I would do it if you feel the need. I know how it is I just decide to take a male or female from each pair so maybe I do the whole "lineage" wrong lol I'm too lazy to sort and all that stuff lol

 • Yeah, the way I see it, is im probably only going to use the dogs for my own personal showing usage. And the few I sell, I will obviously let people know that the lines DID cross, but it was responsible breeding, and the lines were kept nice and organized... and that its 5 generations apart before they cross. Most people, wont mind, since.. they will be getting a neutered dog anyways :D

And, I dont see the point in going through all the hassle of getting more imports, going through weeks of training, ect. I all ready did it once.. :)
